Rhonda Hamlyn studied at the National Art School, Sydney. She started exhibiting paintings in 1965. In the mid-eighties, she started working in wool, jointly with her mother Susannah. Their work attracted great attention and was purchased by several major institutions, including the National Gallery. Since her mothers death in 1994, Rhonda has continued to work in a similar vein on her own.
