John Peart
arrived in Sydney in 1962 from Brisbane. He first exhibited at Watters
Gallery in 1967. Very soon he was recognised as a leading non-figurative
artist within Australia and has been included in numerous definitive exhibitions.
He spent five years in the 1970's overseas, especially in New York and
England.
John Peart 1964 - 2004 was a survey exhibition of Peart's work which toured
Australia. It was a Campbelltown Arts Centre Travelling Exhibition - which
travelled to: La Trobe Regional Gallery, VIC: 21 May - 3 July 2005; Tamworth
Gallery, NSW: 5 August - 4 September 2005; Drill Hall Gallery, Australian
National University, ACT: 22 Sept - 30 Oct 2005; Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery,
University of W.A: 11 Nov - 14 Dec 2005; Burnie Regional Art Gallery,
Tasmania: 27 Jan - 5 Mar. 2006; and at the Campbelltown Arts Centre, 17
March - 7 May 2006. John has had over 35 solo exhibitions and numerous
group exhibitionsHis
work is in the Australian National Gallery, all State Galleries and numerous
other collections, both locally and internationally.
